Residents and motorists should prepare for upcoming roadway improvements on LA 406 and LA 23 beginning in Spring 2026. These projects are designed to enhance safety, traffic flow, and long-term roadway durability.
This project will construct a new roundabout at F. Edward Hebert Boulevard to improve traffic efficiency and safety.
This project includes roadway overlay improvements to enhance driving conditions and extend pavement life.
Traffic Impacts:Traffic will be maintained throughout construction. Motorists should anticipate intermittent lane closures and possible delays.

Chevron Oronite (South Gate) to River Oaks Drive Effective immediately, Inframark has issued a BOIL WATER ADVISORY from the Chevron Oronite South Gate to River Oaks Drive in the Belle Chasse area until further notice. Water pressure was lost this morning when valves were closed to isolate a water leak on the 16 inch water main. A contractor damaged the line and caused the water leak. Hwy 23 (Cedar Grove Area) Hwy 23 is closed in both directions near River Oaks Drive in the Cedar Grove area south of Chevron Oronite due to an accident involving an 18 wheeler and garbage truck. Expect extended traffic delays, please avoid the area.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday, all Government Buildings will be CLOSED on Monday, January 19th. Additionally, there will be NO garbage pickup on Monday, January 19th. The compactor sites in Belle Chasse and South Plaquemines will be CLOSED on January 19th. On December 4, 2024, Plaquemines Parish celebrated groundbreaking ceremonies for the Joint Emergency Coordination Center (JECC), which will be located at the Medal of Honor Park, and the Basin 2 project, located along Chancellor Drive in Belle Chasse at a Plaquemines Parish-owned and maintained pump station. These milestones result from a three-year collaboration between the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB) and Plaquemines Parish Government, 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 $19.5 𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒏 in FY23 Defense Community Infrastructure Program (DCIP) grants from the Department of Defense.
The DCIP program supports community infrastructure benefiting military installations. The JECC will receive $13.7 𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒏, and the Basin 2 Sea Level Rise Mitigation & Improvements Project will receive $5.8 𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒏.
