- You may install the treatment plant yourself as long as it is located and services your primary residence. You will be required to attend a course and successfully complete the exam. More information is found here.

- You can call the health department to make an appointment. We try to honor walk ins if there is an open appointment time but ask that you make an appointment to ensure that the appropriate staff are available, and the vaccine that you need is in stock. Our medical staff leaves the building for lunch, and that time varies depending on appointments for the day. We don’t want you to waste a trip, call before you come if possible.

- At the top of every state of Louisiana vaccine record, there is an expiration date showing which vaccine is due and when due. You can call the health dept and ask to speak with the nurse at (504) 934-6690. The public health nurse can electronically check your vaccine record for your personalized list of vaccines due. For a general list of vaccinations due by age, you can also visit the CDC website.
- My child’s school needs a vaccine record, how do I obtain one?

- You can email health@ppgov.net with request a copy of vaccine record in the subject and include your child’s first, last name and date of birth. Or you can call the health department to request the record, and it will be ready for pick up by the end of the same day. Please note**We can only print an up-to-date record, meaning that the patient has no vaccines due. If the record is not up to date, we will inform you of which vaccines are due. An appointment can be made for vaccines due, then we can print your record for your copy.

- Yes, although we suggest that you contact your doctor from your previous state/country as this usually yields faster results. You can also come into the health department to fill out a records request form to be sent to your prior physician/school. You will need the telephone number of your prior physician to complete this task. The timeframe for return records varies.

- Your pets should be vaccinated at their appropriate schedule as determined by your pet’s veterinarian. The LASPCA – Belle Chasse Campus may also offer a vaccination program to the public. They may be reached at (504) 934-6931.
- I have a nuisance dog/cat, how do I obtain a trap?

- If you need to rent a dog or cat trap, call the Animal Control Department at (504) 934-6690. An application and a deposit is required. Dog traps are $75.00, while cat traps are $30.00. A refund will be returned upon the return of the trap in the condition as it was rented.

- Yes, a person bitten by a dog or cat must be reported to the Plaquemines Parish Animal Control Department. The animal must be impounded for 10 days at the Plaquemines Parish Animal Shelter for rabies observation. A description of the case is helpful:

- What is the description of the biting animal?
- Where is the animal currently?
- Who owns the animal?
