Plaquemines Parish, LA— In another step to help Plaquemines Parish stay healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic, through Entergy’s Micro-Grant Program, Plaquemines Parish Government was awarded $1,000 to purchase personal protective equipment for Parish employees.
“The money provided by Entergy Louisiana will go a long way in assisting with the Parish’s response to COVID-19 and our efforts to stop the spread throughout Plaquemines Parish,” said Parish President Kirk Lepine “I want to thank them for their continued dedication and support to local government in helping us to ensure the safety of our employees.”
Louisiana will stay in Phase 3 until November 6th, keeping its strong COVID-19 mitigation measures, including a continued statewide mask mandate, in place for another 28 days, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced October 8th
Joni Bathel, Plaquemines Parish’s Entergy Representative, explained, “At Entergy, safety is always our top priority and it is a distinct pleasure to be able to take part in keeping our community partners in Plaquemines Parish safe during these trying times. We believe that our contribution towards these face masks for the citizens to use across the Parish is an essential tool to help keep families and neighbors safe from unwanted contamination as well as allow all of us to work towards getting back to normal within our communities.”
The statewide mask mandate will stay in place under the new order. Masks have proven to be a key mitigation measure in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. The more Louisianans who wear masks, the more Louisiana businesses can stay open.
